Lana Del Rey - Born To Die (Clams Casino Remix)

Most of you know Lana from that song she wrote about playing video games which blew up around the world, reaching number 1 in Germany as well as top ten charts in Austria, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom just to name a few. Since it’s official re-release as the first single from her album Born To Die in October, a number of remixes have emerged, my personal fav being the Balam Acab remix.

A new remix surfaced on the web a couple of days ago, though this time, of her second single Born To Die, and the remixer? well Clams Casino of course. If you go in for the slow, soppy ballads that Del Rey pushes out, you probably won’t enjoy this in the slightest. Comparing the two is difficult and I don’t think I can put it more aptly than The Fader who said (shit, I’m actually about to quote them) “If you want to have nightmares, listen to Clams Casino’s meticulously garbled take on Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’”

Cory Johnson - Legend of Zelda (Demos)

I stumbled across this interesting tape today via the very talented producer Ryan Hemsworth which basically consists of post-rock instrumental versions of Japanese composer Koji Kondo’s music from the Legend of Zelda. You can hardly hear the resemblance in some of the songs, but I think the subtlety is what makes it that much better. The style is actually quite similar to Texan post-rock band Explosions in the Sky. I wonder if it’s intentional or not.
